We've started 2020 with the release of our Beta Program, and this provides access to the latest version of device detection and our new Pipeline API.
Four new properties and a new property value have been added to our data files to help solve day to day device detection challenges. These include FrequencyBands, CssGrid, Fetch, WebP & Smartspeaker.

New property - FrequencyBands
This new property indicates the list of frequency bands supported by the device.
Available in TAC data
New property - CssGrid
This new property indicates if the browser supports all CSS Grid properties.
CSS Grid Layout is a powerful layout system available in CSS. You work with Grid Layout by applying CSS rules both to a parent element (which becomes the Grid Container) and to that element's children (which become Grid Items).

New property - WebP
This new property indicates if the browser supports the WebP image format.
WebP is an image format that supports encoding images in both lossless and lossy formats, making it a versatile format for any visual media.

New property - Fetch
This property indicates if the browser supports the Fetch API
Fetch is a new native JavaScript API, supported by most browsers today. Fetch allows you to make network requests like XMLHttpRequest.

New property Values - Smartspeaker
The device is a wireless device and voice command device with an integrated virtual assistant.
Media is being consumed in more ways these days, not just via your traditional desktop, smartphone, or tablet. We have this new device type to expand on our current list to keep up to date with modern trends while providing an accurate property value for our customers to call.

New browser - Microsoft Edge
Last week Microsoft released a stable version of their latest Edge browser, based on Chromium. We have added this to our database for released versions 79-81.

UA-Client Hints
You may have seen the news that was released this month regarding Google's proposal to phase out the User-Agent as we know it today and introduce a new industry standard called UA Client-Hints.
