iPhone SE and 9.7-inch iPad Pro
This week we are going to have a look at the newest Apple devices that were announced Monday, 21st March 2016. It appears that Apple is back to releasing smaller devices.
Apple iPhone SE
After an unexpectedly short break and the successful release of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple is ready to announce their new powerful phone with a 4-inch display - the iPhone SE.
Due to the smaller size, this new iPhone is competitively light and is just 113g. It also comes with a nice aluminium design that has been updated with matte-chamfered edges. This smartphone can be ordered in four gorgeous metallic finishes, including rose gold. Display wise we get a 4.0 inch Retina display with IPS technology and with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. The device is powered by the Apple A9 processor with M9 motion co-processor and 2GB RAM.
The Apple iPhone SE is equipped with two cameras. One is a 12-megapixel iSight camera featuring Live Photos, the other is a 1.2‑megapixel FaceTime HD Camera. According to Apple the iPhone SE has longer battery life, which is a welcome news, but unfortunately this battery is still not user-replaceable. As with previous models, SE has no expansion slots for extra memory.
So, the device has a lot of positive features along with negative ones. The device is light, which is good, it has a very good back camera, but the front camera may disappoint a lot of selfie-lovers. Also the lack of microSD may still upset some iPhone users especially because this model comes in just in two flavours: 16GB and 64GB.
Apple 9.7 inch iPad Pro
The same can be said about the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, as it is released only a short while after the 12.9‑inch iPad Pro.
Due to the smaller size, this new iPad Pro is competitively lighter than the 12.9‑inch iPad Pro. With this iPad we get a 9.7-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The device is powered by the Apple A9X chip with M9 motion co-processor and 4GB RAM.
The Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro is equipped with two cameras. One is a 12-megapixel iSight camera featuring Live Photos, the other is a 5‑megapixel FaceTime HD Camera. According to Apple the iPad Pro also delivers all-day battery life, which is excellent news, but unfortunately this battery is still not user-replaceable. As with previous models, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro has no expansion slots for extra memory, but internal memory is up to 256 GB, this compares well with other tablets. Also this iPad exists in two versions: Wi-Fi only and Wi‑Fi + Cellular, that is 4G connection.
So, it has a lot of positive and user friendly features. It is light which is very good and it has excellent back and front cameras. Also the lack of microSD may still upset some iPad users, however the size of the internal memory should be sufficient for most users. Also, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro with cellular data now has Apple SIM embedded directly in the new iPad Pro, which makes it easier to connect to wireless data plans right from your device when travelling, but may be disabled when purchased from some carriers. Consult your carrier for details. An Apple SIM and embedded Apple SIM are not available in China.
