Updates include devices with 4G Technology
Over the past few months we heard a lot about the new and promising 5G technology that should be super-fast and would allow you to download a movie on your smartphone or tablet in a matter of seconds. However, there is still a long way to go before it will be accessible on our devices so let's have a look on the fastest alternative network connection currently available on the market.
4G technology provides mobile broadband Internet access, it is the fourth generation of mobile network. In comparison with its predecessor (3G), 4G has a higher peak bit rates, improved frequency bands and a better capacity for many simultaneous data transfers that are important requirements for the newest mobile devices.
4G also referred as the LTE, which stands for Long Term Evolution and there are different commercial LTE networks around the world, grouped by their frequency bands. Then there are different names depending of those frequencies.LTE
It is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies. LTE utilizes the optimal way to do wireless connections both ways, which makes a better-optimized network and better battery life on LTE devices. Support for both FDD and TDD communication systems.
FDD-LTE
Frequency-Division Long-Term Evolution. This system uses paired frequencies to upload and download data, working better at lower frequencies.
TD-LTE
Time-Division Duplex LTE, abbreviated as TD-LTE, TDD LTE, or LTE-TDD. LTE-TDD deployments are especially popular in Asia and the Pacific. This system uses a single frequency, alternating between uploading and downloading data through time, working better at higher frequencies.
Last week, 51Degrees added 293 new devices into the database. One of them is F1 Turbo Mini, a DOOGEE smartphone with 4G technology.
This device has FDD-LTE support and speed up to 150 Mbps. Meaning that you can watch HD movies on the move, play online games, download big resolution pictures, etc.
The other example of 4G device added recently to our database is the new Xiaomi, Redmi 2 4G.
It is a smartphone which supports networks like FDD-LTE or TDD-LTE.
